Vi negre Rhodes del Celler Mas Llunes

First name

Rhodes, today's Roses, founded in the 8th century BC by the Rhodians, is the oldest Greek colony in Catalonia and most likely, the pre-coastal mountain ranges of Rhodes and Albera make up the oldest viticultural landscape in the Iberian Peninsula.
The rose seen from below, which decorates the label, is the symbol of Rhodes on the old coins (drachmas) of the colony.

Elaboration

The grapes coming from vineyards of slate land were carefully selected by hand at the time of harvest to achieve a homogeneous and optimal degree of ripeness.

The different varieties are fermented separately in refrigerated stainless fermentation tanks at a temperature of 24/26ºC.

Two remountings were carried out daily, decubing 30-40 days after the start of fermentation, depending on the variety. The length of incubation was determined by taste.
Malolactic fermentation is carried out in tank.

Aged for 12 months in French oak barrels. It underwent minimal clarification and filtration treatments before bottling.

Varieties

Red Carignan, Red Garnacha and Syrah

Tasting note

Intense cherry color. Concentrated, mineral aroma, with toasted very ripe fruit and well-integrated oak and notes of spices and chocolate. In the mouth it is powerful, fresh, complex, mineral, balsamic and we find notes of very ripe black fruit. Ripe tannins well integrated.
