On 9 October, the Vinari awards ceremony was held in the Vilafranca del Penedès auditorium, hosted by author Màrius Serra and broadcast on Catalan TV channel 33.
A total of 850 wines from the 12 D.O. in Catalonia participated in this 8th edition of the awards. They were all judged in a blind tasting by a panel of sixty professionals from the sector: sommeliers, oenologists, opinion leaders, etc.
The wine with the most points this year, awarded the Gran Vinari d’Or award, was Finca Butarós 2014. A red wine made with Carignan and Grenache grapes from a centennial estate planted in slate soils on the slopes of the Albera Massif.
This is the second time Mas Llunes has won this award. The first was in 2013 with Solera, a Grenache from Empordà.
