The name, which literally translates as ‘old vines’, aims to express what these Mas Llunes wines are looking to achieve: a range of singular wines, that are unique each year round; always coming from local varieties and very old vines, produced in very small batches.

The wall transmits the idea of the singularity of each of the stones of which it is comprised.

Wine-making

The grape was carefully hand selected during the harvest to achieve an optimal and consistent degree of maturity.
The grape juice was macerated with grape skins for three hours before the fermentation. The 80% was fermented in lightly-toasted French Allier oak barrels, where it was left in contact with its lees for five months, the remaining wine fermented in a stainless steel deposit at 17ºC. It was filtered and stabilized at -3º before being bottled.

Blend

Red Grenache, 100% sourced from a selection of strains of this variety, coming from a vine that is over 70 years old. This vine is located in Fontanilles, and is planted in slate soils.

Tasting note

Shiny gold in colour in with light grey reflections. Sweet aromas of very mature fruit, quince, aniseed and fennel, followed by fresh citrus aromas with light mint notes. On the palate it is a very balanced wine with sweetness and acidity, offering a broad yet fresh taste.
